Postika for Claude Code

Ship the release, then let Claude Code announce it

Claude Code already knows what changed in your repo. Add Postika's MCP server with one command and it can turn that diff, changelog or release note into posts for X, LinkedIn and Threads, waiting for your approval.

Step by step

  1. 1

In a terminal, run claude mcp add --transport http postika https://postika.app/api/mcp. Add --scope user to make Postika available in every project on your machine.

  2. 2

Start Claude Code and type /mcp.

  3. 3

Pick postika from the list and authenticate in the browser: sign in to Postika and click Allow.

  4. 4

Back in Claude Code, ask "list my Postika channels" to confirm the five tools are available.

Example prompts

  • Read the commits since the last tag and write an X post and a LinkedIn post announcing the release. Leave both for my approval tomorrow at 10:00.
  • Summarize CHANGELOG.md for version 2.4 as a Threads post under 500 characters and schedule it for Thursday at 17:00.
  • Look at the PRs merged this week and draft a 'what we shipped' LinkedIn post. Draft only, no date.
  • We just fixed the login bug from issue #312. Write a short Threads post thanking the users who reported it, pending approval at 12:00.
  • List everything scheduled in the Devtools project for the next 7 days so I don't announce two things on the same day.
  • Delete the draft about the beta that you created this morning.

Why developers announce from the terminal

The hardest part of building in public is not writing the post, it is remembering to do it after the merge. Claude Code sits in the repo, so it can read git log, the diff, the changelog or a release note and turn them into a post while the context is fresh. No copy-pasting into a browser tab, no rewriting the same update three times.

Postika adds the missing half: a calendar with your real accounts. Claude Code calls list_channels to see your X, LinkedIn and Threads accounts with their limits, then create_post with a time in your project's time zone. The MCP glossary entry explains the protocol if you have not used remote MCP servers before.

A release announcement workflow

  1. Tag the release as usual.
  2. Ask Claude Code: "Write release posts for v2.4 from the changelog: one for X (280 characters), one for LinkedIn, one for Threads (500). Pending approval at 10:00 tomorrow."
  3. Claude reads the changelog, checks the limits through Postika and creates three posts in approval mode.
  4. Open Postika, check the previews per network, tweak a word and approve.

Because Postika rejects a post that breaks a limit, a 290-character X post comes back as an error and Claude shortens it on the next try. If you prefer to automate this from CI instead of a chat, the REST API takes the same fields with a project API key; see Postika for developers.

What Claude Code cannot do here

Screenshots and demo videos cannot be sent over MCP. For text networks (X, LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook) that is fine. If you want a GIF of the new feature on X or a video on YouTube, let Claude Code create the post as a draft and attach the file in the app.

Postika also does not post X threads; each post is a single post. Keep release notes short or link to the full changelog. And Postika does not track likes or clicks, so if you need numbers, add UTM parameters with our UTM builder and read them in your own analytics.

Project and user scope

Without flags, claude mcp add registers Postika for the current project only, which is handy if only one repo should announce things. With --scope user, every repo on your machine can use it. Inside Postika, OAuth connections can reach every project of your account, so tell Claude which project to use ("the Devtools project") when you manage more than one product.

You can revoke access any time in Postika under Connect AI → Connected AIs. Every plan includes the MCP server and API keys, starting at €29/month for 5 channels (pricing). Using Cursor instead? See Cursor and Postika.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add an HTTP MCP server to Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add --transport http <name> <url>. For Postika that is claude mcp add --transport http postika https://postika.app/api/mcp. Then type /mcp inside Claude Code and authenticate.

Can Claude Code post my changelog to X automatically?

Yes. Ask it to read the changelog and create a post in Postika. By default the post waits for your approval; say 'schedule it' if you want it to go out without review.

Can I use an API key instead of OAuth?

Yes. Create a project API key in Postika under Connect AI → Project keys and send it as Authorization: Bearer ptk_…. A key only reaches its own project, which is useful for shared machines or CI.

Does it work with screenshots of the new feature?

Not over MCP, because files cannot be sent that way. Let Claude Code create a draft and add the screenshot in the Postika app before approving.
