How scheduling on X works in Postika
On X, timing and consistency matter more than on most networks: the feed moves fast and a post's life is measured in hours. Scheduling lets you keep a steady cadence (for example three posts a day at 8:00, 13:00 and 18:00 in your audience's time zone) without being glued to the app.
Postika publishes single posts. Threads (several connected posts) are not supported, so if your idea needs a thread, schedule the opening post in Postika and continue it in X, or split the idea into stand-alone posts over a few days.
How X counts characters
X's 280-character limit is not a simple letter count. According to X's developer documentation:
- Every link counts as 23 characters, however long or short the URL is.
- Emoji count as 2 characters.
- Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters count as 2 each.
Postika's check counts each character once, so a post with many emoji or long links can look different in X's own count. When a post is close to 280, test it in the character counter and leave a little margin. Paid X accounts can post longer texts; Postika applies the standard 280.
Best practices for X
- One idea per post. If it needs a second sentence to make sense, it may be two posts.
- Put the link last and tag it with UTM parameters from the UTM builder; since every link costs 23 characters regardless of length, a long tagged URL doesn't eat into your text.
- Use images. Up to 4 images per post; add alt text in X when it matters for accessibility.
- Batch your week. Write ten posts in one sitting, spread them across the calendar, and use the time saved for replies, which Postika does not handle.
- Reuse with care. A good X post often works on Threads and LinkedIn too, but each has a different limit (500 and 3,000 characters) and a different tone, so adapt rather than paste.
What Postika checks for X
| Check | Postika's limit for X |
|---|---|
| Text | 280 characters |
| Media | Optional |
| Images per post | Up to 4 |
| Videos per post | 1 |
X itself allows either up to 4 photos, or one GIF, or one video per post.
X is where an AI agent shines
Because X posts are short and need no media, an AI connected to Postika can handle them end to end. Connect Claude or ChatGPT through Postika's MCP server, and ask for a week of posts. By default Postika tells the AI to leave them pending approval, so you read each one before it is published.
Prompt: "Turn this changelog into five X posts under 260 characters, one per weekday at 9:30, pending my approval."
You keep full control: approve, edit or delete in the calendar. Steps in Claude for X and ChatGPT for X.
A simple X posting rhythm
Teams that post well on X usually keep a fixed grid: for example a tip at 8:00, a link at 13:00 and a question at 18:00 on weekdays. Fill that grid in the weekly calendar every Monday and gaps become obvious. If you run X accounts for several brands, give each one its own project so their calendars and time zones never mix.
Frequently asked questions
Can I schedule tweets for free?
X offers a basic scheduler in its desktop web composer, one post at a time. Postika is a paid tool with a 7-day free trial that adds a multi-network calendar, approval and an AI connection.
Can I schedule X threads?
No. Postika schedules single X posts. Schedule the first post and continue the thread in X, or split it into separate posts.
Do links count toward the 280 characters?
Yes. X counts every link as 23 characters regardless of its actual length.
Can I schedule posts for several X accounts?
Yes. Each account is one channel. Put each brand or client in its own project to keep calendars and time zones separate.
