Automate social media posting with n8n and Postika
One HTTP Request node and a project API key are enough for n8n to schedule posts on 8 networks. Or plug Postika's MCP server into an n8n AI Agent and let it decide what to post.
Step by step
- 1
In Postika, create a project API key under Connect AI → Project keys and copy your channel IDs from
GET /api/v1/channels. - 2
In n8n, add an HTTP Request node after your trigger (RSS Feed Trigger, form, schedule, webhook…).
- 3
Set Method
POSTand URLhttps://postika.app/api/v1/posts. - 4
Authentication: Generic credential type → Header Auth, name
Authorization, valueBearer ptk_…. - 5
Turn on Send Body, content type JSON, and send
content,channel_ids,when(for example{{ $now.plus({ days: 1 }).toFormat('yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm') }}) andmode: "approval". - 6
For an AI Agent instead: add an MCP Client Tool to the agent, endpoint
https://postika.app/api/mcp, transport HTTP Streamable, Bearer authentication with the same key.
Example prompts
- (AI Agent system message) You manage the Acme social calendar in Postika. For each new blog post, write one LinkedIn post and one X post under 280 characters, and create them in approval mode the next weekday at 09:00.
- (AI Agent) Check list_posts for the next 7 days before creating anything, and never put two posts on the same channel on the same day.
- (AI Agent) For every new product in the input, write an Instagram caption under 2,200 characters and leave it as a draft; a human will add the photo.
- (AI Agent) Summarize this week's top three items from the RSS feed as a single Threads post under 500 characters, pending approval Friday at 16:00.
- (AI Agent) If the input says 'urgent', use schedule mode; otherwise always use approval.
The classic: RSS feed to social posts
The most common n8n social workflow is RSS to post: a new blog article, podcast episode or YouTube upload appears in a feed, and n8n announces it. With Postika the whole flow is three nodes:
- RSS Feed Trigger watching your blog's feed.
- Optional AI node (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini…) that rewrites the title into a post per network.
- HTTP Request to Postika with
content={{ $json.title }} {{ $json.link }}, your LinkedIn and X channel IDs,when= tomorrow andmode=approval.
Each morning you open Postika and approve the posts n8n queued overnight. Because Postika publishes to all 8 networks, you avoid setting up and maintaining one native node and one OAuth app per network. Add tracking to links with the UTM builder.
HTTP Request or AI Agent with MCP
Use the HTTP Request node when the logic is fixed: same channels, same template, same time. It is predictable and cheap.
Use the AI Agent with Postika as an MCP Client Tool when the decision needs judgment: which channels fit this item, what day is free, how to adapt the tone. The agent gets the same five tools as Claude or ChatGPT (list_projects, list_channels, list_posts, create_post, delete_post) and reads each channel's limit before writing. Note that an API key only reaches its own Postika project, which keeps a client's workflow from touching another client's calendar. Background on agents: AI agent.
Errors, limits and media
Postika validates every post against the network's rules and replies with { "error": "…" } and a 4xx status if something is wrong, for example "Instagram needs a photo or video" or a text over 280 characters for X. Turn on n8n's error output on the HTTP node to route those to Slack or email.
The API takes text, not files. For Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube, have n8n create the post in approval or draft mode and add the media in the app. Text-first networks (LinkedIn, X, Threads, Facebook) can run fully automatic with schedule. Limits are listed in social media limits; the full request reference is in automations docs.
Other workflows people build
- Form to post: a Typeform or n8n Form submission (event, job opening, new menu item) becomes a pending post.
- Spreadsheet calendar: a Google Sheets row with date, network and text becomes a scheduled post; mark the row as done with the returned post ID.
- Webhook from your shop: a new product or a restock triggers a draft for Instagram and a scheduled post for Facebook.
Every Postika plan includes API keys and unlimited posts, so n8n volume does not change your bill; you pay by connected channels, from €29/month (pricing). Prefer a visual builder without code? See Make or Zapier.
Frequently asked questions
Does Postika have an n8n node?
Postika works with n8n's built-in HTTP Request node and MCP Client Tool, so there is nothing to install. You need a project API key and your channel IDs.
How do I post an RSS feed to LinkedIn with n8n?
Use an RSS Feed Trigger followed by an HTTP Request node that POSTs to https://postika.app/api/v1/posts with your LinkedIn channel ID, the item title and link as content, a date and a mode. Use approval mode while testing.
Can n8n post images to Instagram through Postika?
Not yet through the API, which accepts text. n8n can create the Instagram post as a draft or pending approval, and you add the photo or video in Postika.
What time zone does the when field use?
The project's local time, in the format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM. Format n8n dates with toFormat('yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm').
