AI agent

An AI agent is an AI system that can plan and take actions toward a goal by using tools (reading data, calling apps, creating content) rather than only replying with text.

Chatbot vs agent

A chatbot answers. An agent acts. The difference is tools: an agent can call functions in other systems, look at the result and decide the next step.

Example: you ask "plan next week on LinkedIn". A chatbot writes five posts for you to copy. An agent connected to your scheduler first reads what is already planned, notices Tuesday is taken, writes four posts for the free days and creates them on the calendar, waiting for your approval.

Most agents today run inside AI apps you already know (Claude, ChatGPT) or coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor), and connect to tools through protocols like MCP.

AI agents for social media, with guardrails

Social media is a natural fit for agents: lots of repetitive writing, clear rules per network and a calendar to fill. It is also public, so mistakes are visible. Good setups keep a human in the loop: the agent drafts, a person approves. That is the approval workflow Postika uses by default for posts created over MCP.

There is one practical limit: agents cannot send photos or videos over MCP, so for networks that need media (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube) the agent prepares the text and you add the media. Guides: AI hub, Claude, ChatGPT, and managing social media with AI.
