Carousel post
A carousel post is a single social media post that contains several images (or images and videos) that people swipe through, with one caption for the whole set.
Carousels on each network
| Network | Name | Max in Postika |
|---|---|---|
| Carousel | 10 images | |
| TikTok | Photo post | 35 images |
| Multi-image post | 9 images | |
| Multi-photo post | 10 images | |
| Threads | Carousel | 10 images |
| X | Multiple images | 4 images |
Some networks allow more through their APIs (Instagram 20, LinkedIn 20); Postika's limits are the ones above. Pinterest takes a single image per Pin in Postika, so it has no carousel format. LinkedIn's PDF "document carousels" are a different format that Postika does not publish.
What makes a carousel work
- Slide one is the hook: a clear promise that makes people swipe.
- One idea per slide, readable without the caption.
- A consistent design: same ratio, fonts and colors on every slide.
- An ending: a summary, a question or a call to action on the last slide.
Carousels suit how-tos, lists, before and after, and stories. They are also easy to repurpose across networks with a new ratio and caption. Guides: Instagram carousel, TikTok photo carousel and LinkedIn multi-image posts.
Frequently asked questions
How many slides can a carousel have?
It depends on the network. In Postika: Instagram 10, TikTok 35, LinkedIn 9, Facebook and Threads 10, X 4.
Do carousels get more engagement?
They often get more saves and longer viewing time because people swipe, but results vary by audience. Compare against your own posts.
What size should carousel images be?
Use one ratio for all slides. On Instagram, 4:5 portrait (1080 x 1350) is a common choice; on TikTok, vertical 9:16.
Can I schedule a carousel?
Yes. In Postika, add several images to one post and select the network; Postika checks the image limit for that network before scheduling.
