Schedule LinkedIn multi-image posts

A LinkedIn post with several photos shows them as a grid people tap through. Postika schedules them with up to 9 images per post.

Multi-image posts vs document carousels

LinkedIn has two "carousel-like" formats, and it is worth being precise:

  • Multi-image posts: several images in one post, shown as a grid that opens into a gallery. LinkedIn's API supports them for organic posts, with 2 to 20 images. Postika allows up to 9.
  • Document posts: a PDF uploaded as a swipeable document. This is what people often mean by "LinkedIn carousel". Postika does not publish these.

LinkedIn's API documentation also notes that its organic "carousel" ad format is for sponsored content only. If your plan relies on PDF documents, publish those from LinkedIn and schedule the rest in Postika.

When multi-image posts work best

  • Events and offsites: four to six photos tell the story better than one.
  • Product launches: the product, a detail, a person using it.
  • Before and after: two images side by side.
  • Team and hiring posts: faces get attention on LinkedIn.

Put your best image first; it is the largest in the grid. The text still carries the post on LinkedIn, so write it as carefully as you would a text-only post: hook in the first line, short paragraphs, a clear point. Add alt text to images in LinkedIn when accessibility matters; LinkedIn's API supports long alt text.

Image rules from LinkedIn

LinkedIn's API accepts JPG, PNG and GIF images (GIFs up to 250 frames), with a very large maximum pixel count, so file size is rarely an issue for normal photos. A multi-image post needs at least 2 images.

The same set of images can go to an Instagram carousel (up to 10 in Postika) with a different caption. For text length, compare networks with the character counter.

Drafting multi-image posts with your AI

An AI connected through Postika's MCP server can write the LinkedIn text and create the post, but cannot upload the photos. Ask it for a draft and add the images yourself:

"Write a LinkedIn post about our team offsite in Lisbon, under 1,200 characters, warm but professional, ending with a hiring line. Create it as a draft for Tuesday at 8:30."

Then open the draft in Postika, add the photos and approve. Setup: Claude for LinkedIn. More LinkedIn tips in the LinkedIn scheduler guide.

Frequently asked questions

How many images can a LinkedIn post have?

LinkedIn's API allows multi-image posts with 2 to 20 images. In Postika the limit is 9 images per post.

Can I schedule a LinkedIn PDF carousel with Postika?

No. Postika does not publish LinkedIn document posts. Use a multi-image post instead, or publish the PDF from LinkedIn.

Can I mix images and a video in one LinkedIn post?

LinkedIn multi-image posts contain images only. For a video, create a separate LinkedIn post; Postika allows one video per post.

Do multi-image posts get more reach than single images?

There is no official rule. Use them when several images genuinely tell the story better, and compare results in LinkedIn's analytics.
