Schedule TikTok photo carousels

TikTok photo posts let people swipe through images instead of watching a video. Postika schedules them with up to 35 images per post.

  2. 2

Create a post in the brand's project and select the TikTok channel.

  3. 3

Upload the images in order, up to 35.

  4. 4

Write the caption (Postika checks 2,200 characters).

  5. 5

Preview and schedule, or leave it pending approval.

Why brands use TikTok photo carousels

A photo carousel (TikTok calls it a photo post) is a stack of images people swipe through, often with text on each one. They are cheaper to produce than a video and work well for lists, recipes, outfit ideas, tutorials and "storytime" posts told in screenshots.

Because each image is a separate beat, the first image must hook and the rest must pay off quickly. Long text blocks on an image get skipped; one idea per image works.

TikTok's rules for photo posts

From TikTok's Content Posting API documentation:

  • Up to 35 images per photo post. Postika allows the same 35.
  • Formats: JPEG or WebP, up to 1080p, 20 MB per image.
  • Text: a short title (90 characters) and a longer description (up to 4,000 characters) in TikTok's API. Postika applies one caption with a 2,200-character limit to all TikTok posts, so anything that passes in Postika fits.

TikTok's docs do not state a required aspect ratio for photos. Vertical images fill the screen; square or landscape ones get black bars.

From Instagram carousel to TikTok photo post

If you already make Instagram carousels, you have most of a TikTok photo post. The main changes:

  • Export a 9:16 version instead of 4:5, so the images fill the phone screen.
  • Rewrite the caption in TikTok's tone: shorter, more direct.
  • Use more images if the story needs it: Postika allows up to 35 on TikTok against 10 on Instagram.

This kind of content repurposing is one of the cheapest ways to keep two networks active. Schedule the TikTok version a day or two after the Instagram one so you can see which one starts better.

Captions and planning with your AI

TikTok posts need media, and images cannot be sent over MCP. So an AI connected to Postika does the planning: it writes the text for each image and the caption, then creates a draft on the calendar. You design the images, add them to the draft and schedule.

Prompt: "Plan a 12-image TikTok photo carousel about budget travel in Lisbon: text for each image and a two-line caption. Create it as a draft for Sunday at 18:00."

Frequently asked questions

Can you schedule a TikTok photo carousel?

Yes. In Postika, add up to 35 images to a TikTok post and schedule it. It is published as a photo post at that time.

How many photos can a TikTok carousel have?

Up to 35 images per post, both in TikTok's API and in Postika.

Can I add a song to a scheduled photo carousel?

Postika publishes the images and caption; it does not pick sounds. If the sound is essential, publish that post from the TikTok app.

What image size works best?

Vertical images at up to 1080p, JPEG or WebP, under 20 MB each. Keep the same ratio for every image.
