Turn ChatGPT into your social media scheduler
ChatGPT can already write a good caption. Connect Postika as an MCP connector and it can also put that caption on the right day, on the right network, inside the character limit, waiting for your approval.
Step by step
- 1
In Postika, create a project and connect the channels you want ChatGPT to use.
- 2
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- 3
Back in Apps & Connectors, click Create. Paste
https://postika.app/api/mcpand choose OAuth as the authentication. - 4
Click Create, then click Allow in the Postika window that opens.
- 5
In a new chat, enable the Postika connector from the composer and ask "Which channels do I have in Postika?" to confirm it works.
Example prompts
- List my Postika channels and tell me the character limit of each one.
- Write five LinkedIn posts from the notes below, one per weekday next week at 08:30, and leave them pending my approval.
- Turn this blog post into an X post under 280 characters and a Threads post under 500, and schedule both for tomorrow at 18:30.
- Check my calendar for the next 30 days and make a table of what is scheduled per network.
- Write a Facebook post announcing our holiday opening hours and publish it now.
- Draft three Pinterest descriptions for our new recipe pins, 500 characters max each, as drafts. I'll add the images.
Why ChatGPT needs a connector to schedule posts
On its own, ChatGPT can write a caption but cannot log in to Instagram or LinkedIn and post it. That is why answers to "can ChatGPT post to social media?" usually say no. A connector changes that: ChatGPT calls Postika's tools, and Postika does the publishing through each network's official connection.
With Postika connected, ChatGPT gets five tools: list your projects, list your channels, read the posts in a date range, create a post and delete a post. When you write "schedule this for Friday at 10", ChatGPT reads the project's time zone first, so Friday at 10 means 10:00 where your brand is, not where OpenAI's servers are. If you are new to the protocol behind this, see what MCP is.
How approval works when ChatGPT creates a post
Each post ChatGPT creates has a mode:
| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| approval | The post waits in your calendar as pending until you approve it |
| draft | Saved without a date or with a tentative one; nothing is published |
| schedule | Published automatically at the chosen time |
| now | Published immediately |
Postika's server instructs ChatGPT to use approval unless you ask for something else. This matters with a model that is eager to help: you can ask for twenty posts without worrying that twenty posts go live. You review them in the calendar, with a preview per network, and approve the ones you like. The full reasoning is in our approval workflow entry.
Images from ChatGPT, and other media
If you generate an image in ChatGPT, it still has to reach the post as a file, and MCP connectors only pass text. So the flow is: ChatGPT writes the caption and leaves the post pending approval, you download the image, open the post in Postika, attach it and approve.
This step is required on Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest (they need a photo or video) and on YouTube (video only). On Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Threads, text-only posts are allowed, so ChatGPT can schedule them without you touching the app. For Instagram specifics, see ChatGPT for Instagram.
Good ChatGPT workflows for social media
- Repurpose long content. Paste a newsletter or transcript and ask for one post per network. ChatGPT knows each channel's limit from Postika, so the X version is short and the LinkedIn version is not. More ideas in content repurposing.
- Fill the calendar gaps. Ask "which days next week have nothing on LinkedIn?" and then "write something for those days".
- Seasonal batches. Holiday hours, end-of-month promos and event reminders are easy to batch in one chat.
- Weekly summary. Ask for a table of everything scheduled, by day and network, before your Monday meeting.
Custom instructions or a ChatGPT project with your brand notes keep the tone consistent from one chat to the next. ChatGPT access is included in every Postika plan, from €29/month; see pricing. Prefer Claude? Read the Claude guide.

Frequently asked questions
Can ChatGPT schedule social media posts?
Yes, once it is connected to a scheduler through an MCP connector. With Postika, ChatGPT can create posts on 8 networks in approval, draft, schedule or publish-now mode, and read what is already on your calendar.
What is ChatGPT developer mode?
It is a setting in ChatGPT (Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings) that lets you add your own MCP connectors by URL. You need it to add Postika. Which ChatGPT plans offer it is decided by OpenAI.
Can ChatGPT post to Instagram automatically?
It can write and time the caption, but Instagram needs a photo or video and files cannot travel over the connector. ChatGPT leaves the post pending approval and you add the media in Postika before approving.
Does Postika use ChatGPT to write posts for me?
No. Postika has no built-in AI. You use your own ChatGPT account, and Postika only provides the calendar, the network limits and the publishing.
