Schedule social media posts with Zapier
Use Webhooks by Zapier to send any trigger (a form, a new row, a new article) to Postika, which checks each network's limits and publishes on 8 networks.
Step by step
- 1
In Postika, create a project API key under Connect AI → Project keys and get your channel IDs from
GET /api/v1/channels. - 2
In your Zap, add a Formatter → Date / Time step to turn the trigger date into
YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm. - 3
Add an action step: Webhooks by Zapier → Custom Request, method
POST, URLhttps://postika.app/api/v1/posts. - 4
Data: paste the JSON body (
content,channel_ids,when,mode) and insert fields from earlier steps. - 5
Headers:
Authorization=Bearer ptk_…andContent-Type=application/json. - 6
Test the step: a successful call returns the new post ID and status.
Example prompts
- (ChatGPT step before Postika) Write a LinkedIn post announcing this webinar: title, date, who it is for and the sign-up link. Under 1,300 characters.
- (AI step) Rewrite this new blog post title as an X post under 280 characters, ending with the link.
- (AI step) Write a Facebook post welcoming this new team member from the HR form fields.
- (AI step) Create a Pinterest description under 500 characters for this new product, with keywords people search.
- (AI step) Turn this customer review from the form into a short Threads post, quoting one sentence and thanking the customer by first name.
Zaps that are worth building
Zapier shines when the trigger lives in one of the thousands of apps it supports. With one Custom Request step to Postika you can build:
- New article → LinkedIn + X: RSS by Zapier or your CMS triggers, an AI step writes two versions, two Postika requests schedule them.
- Webinar or event registration page published → reminder posts: one post a week before, one the day before, both pending approval.
- Google Sheets calendar: a new row with date, text and network becomes a scheduled post.
- Typeform / Google Forms: a staff member submits a "new listing" or "today's special" form and a draft appears in Postika.
For a full structure of a spreadsheet calendar, see content calendar.
One request per network, or one for all
channel_ids takes a list, so one request can post the same text to several channels. That is fine for a short message that fits everywhere. When you want each network to get its own text (a longer LinkedIn post, a tight 280-character X post), add one Custom Request per network, each with its own AI-written text and channel ID.
Postika checks every request against the network's rules. If your text is 320 characters and X allows 280, the step fails with { "error": "…" } and a 4xx status, and the reason shows in Zap history. Use our character counter to tune prompts before you go live.
Approval keeps automations safe
Automations sometimes fire on the wrong thing: a test row, a draft article, a duplicate form. Start with "mode": "approval" so every post the Zap creates waits in Postika until someone approves it. Once the Zap has run cleanly for a few weeks, switch text-only channels (LinkedIn, X, Threads, Facebook) to schedule.
Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube need media, and the API only carries text, so keep those in draft or approval and attach the photo or video in the app. Details in the automations docs. Background: approval workflow.
What you pay
Zapier bills by tasks; Postika does not. Every plan includes unlimited posts and API keys, and the price depends only on how many channels you connect: €29/month for 5, €39 for 10, €49 for 30 or €99 for 100, with 20% off yearly (pricing). If Zapier tasks get expensive, the same request works from n8n or Make.
Frequently asked questions
Can Zapier schedule LinkedIn posts?
Yes. With Postika, a Webhooks by Zapier Custom Request step creates a LinkedIn post at the date you choose, in approval or schedule mode. LinkedIn accepts text-only posts up to 3,000 characters.
Do I need Zapier's paid plan for Webhooks?
Webhooks by Zapier availability depends on your Zapier plan, which Zapier sets. Check it in your Zapier account before building the Zap.
Why does my Zap fail with a 4xx error?
Postika rejected the post and says why in the error message: a text too long for the network, a missing photo for Instagram, a wrong channel ID or a bad date format. The reason is shown in Zap history.
Can Zapier post Instagram photos through Postika?
The API accepts text only, so the Zap creates the Instagram post as a draft or pending approval, and you add the photo in Postika.
